Note on Marriage to Jessica Annie PRITCHARD

Edmund was added to this tree following discovery of his birth registration as Edmund Charles C Abbott in Ipswich in 1876. Even the official register does not show what the "C" stands for, so until proved otherwise I am assuming he is a "Cook-Abbott", however I have not yet been able to link him to any Cook Abbott family in Ipswich around the time of his birth.

However there is an interesting line of enquiry still to be followed up !

A possible 1881 census find, means that on census night Edmund could have been living at 43 Cold Bath Square with his aunt S A Lazzell and uncle George Lazzell. At the moment, the only Lazzell marriage I can find which seems to match this pair is in Holborn in June quarter 1862 between a George Lazell and a Sarah Ann Thomas, and if this is the case it suggests that there is no connection between Edmund and the Cook-Abbott line. HOWEVER, if Jessica Annie's death registration as a Cook-Abbott in 1902 is correct, then this means Edmund must be a Cook-Abbott and George Lazell DID marry a Cook-Abbott!

Also, on the same 1881 census night, living at number 40 Cold Bath Square, is Abraham Cook-Abbott (Rid187) with his wife Rebecca, and their children. Abraham, is the son of Thomas and Sarah (the founders of the Cook-Abbott line) and Sarah in fact died at 40 Cold Bath Sqaure three years later in 1884.

Thomas and Sarah also had a daughter, Sarah Ann (Rid288), who whould have been about 44 in 1881 and could have been an aunt to our Edmund if he can be placed as a son of one of her sibings, but at the moment I can find no record of Sarah marrying a Lazell.

No-one said tracing a family tree was easy....

As yet I have not been able to find a marriage between Sarah Ann Cook Abbott and George Lazzell which would tie this all together, or a matching birth to one of Sarah's siblings, and this could all be just a co-incidence, but certainly seems worth a bit more research.
