The death of a May Lily Evans is registered in Hillingdon (the same location as Richard). Born 15th February 1911. It is still to be confirmed that this is "our" May, but it seems a good match. |

In the Marriage Index, Richard's name is shown as Richard G T Evans and May is shown as May L C Abbott. |
How Richard (born in Wales and studied at Swansea University) and May (born in Ipswich), came to meet and subsiquently marry in Luton is still a mystery. The newspaper article on Richard's page, indicates he was the manager of the local Woolworth store in Cambourne prior to the war. If he had been an employee of Woolworths, it is possible that he had moved around the country working at different stores and perhaps was working in Luton in 1935, but what May was doing there at the same time and how they met will need to be the subject of further research - unless a family member can shed some light?
