Census (family) | 1901 (age 29-30) | |
74, Woodhouse Street, Ipswich, Suffolk In the 1901 census, Susannah is shown aged 29 with an occupation of "Tailoress (on own account at home)", Thomas is aged 26. His occupation is as a "Boot maker (rivitter)". Note a Frederick Abbott (single, age 32, born Bermondsey, occupation Boot Finisher) was living wth them as a boarder. I suspect this is probably Susannah's brother. |
It is not yet clear what difficulties Thomas and Ellen encountered in their married lfe, but clearly something happened in 1882 when Susannah was 11.
Susannah (together with her sister Clara) was registered into St John's childrens home, Ipswich on the 6th October 1882 . She is shown in the home register as a "dissenter".
She was discharged on the 29th October 1884 (after 2 years), but was readmitted on the 19th February 1885 until the 19th April 1885.
Unlike poor Clara, she survived the experience and went on to marry Thomas Buxton.
