Other Details

In her marriage to Edmund, Mary Ann's full name is stated as Mary Ann Long Harrison. I have not yet found her Parish Register birth entry, but the 1851 census above only refers to Mary Ann Harrison, the same name as her unmarried mother. It is a mystery therefore where the "Long" name has come from? Could it be that although her mother Mary Ann never married, her daughters father was named Long and the name was carried through to her marriage certificate?

Edmund and Mary Ann were born and married in Ipswich. They lived in the town until about 1860 when their son Richard was born. They must have then moved to Essex as their next child, Mary, was born in Billericay in 1862. By 1865 they had moved to Bermondsey in Surrey (now part of London) where they raised their family.

By 1911 (census) they were living at The Hollow Cottages, Northchurch Berkhamsted, Herts, where they remained until their deaths.
