The death registration of Leslie M Ratcliffe was in Surrey North in June

This was the address of the local Kingston Hospital. Probate was granted on the 25th June 1955 to his widow Daisy Winifred Ratcliffe. |
Spouse | Daisy Winifred HILL (1899-1977) | |
Marriage | Q2 1923 (age 27) | Lambeth |
Although I am quite sure of the dates and locations I have for Leslie and
Daisy following their marriage,I would be interested to learn how Leslie, born in Suffolk, and Daisy,
born in London, came to meet and marry. I am also assuming that between their marriage in 1923 and the
outbreak of war in 1939, they were living in or around the Lambeth area of London, but it is intriguing why
Daisy was staying in a hotel in Torquay, whilst Leslie was working away from home, in Derby, on the night
the 1939 Register was taken? No children have been added to this marriage as it appears there was anouther Ratcliffe / Hill marriage in Lambeth around the same time as Leslie and Daisy, and although the birth of several offspring from a Ratcliffe / Hill marriage can be identified in Lambeth shortly after both weddings, without viewing the actual birth certificates, we cannot be absolutely sure which child goes with which marriage. Also, neither Daisy's or Leslie's 1939 register entries show any children being present with either of them, which may be a clue? If anyone has any further information they would be willing to share, I would be delighted to hear from you. |
