Birth | Q1 1870 | St Olave, London |
There are a number of birth registrations which may relate to Edward, the most likely being for an Edward Wilson in March Quarter 1870 in St Saviour In the 1881 census return, Edward is shown as born in Christchurch, Surrey age 11. Christchurch Parish was grouped into St Saviours Parish in 1855 so to my mind therefore, this points to the 1870 birth registration in St Saviours as being the correct one. However in the 1921 census, Edward's age is shown as 52 years, 4 months which indicates he was born around February 1869? It seems unlikely that Edward would mis-state his age by 1 year in the 1921 census but it is possible that he was born in 1869 but not registered until March Quarter 1870. Until I have evidence to prove otherwise, I shall continue to use use ththe March Quarter birth date for Edward. |

Census (family) | 1921 (age 52 years 4 months) | |
Edward and Sarah appear in the 1921 census living at 29 Phelp Street, Walworth. This census does not confirm how long Edward and Sarah have been married, nor does it make any reference to the previously deceased child. Their remaining children are all listed on the census return, but interestingly Jessie's name is crossed out and no other details for her are included, which indicates that peraps she was expected to be at home on census night, but in the event was not. Further investigation is required as to her whereabouts. Edward snr is shown as a General Labourer working for "Powells" at 85 Blackfriers Road who are shown as a "Patent Medicine Manufacturer". |
