Bertram DEBNAM and Ethel N R HALL marriage registration in Ipswich, March quarter 1914. |
Spouse | Herbert STENTON ( - ) | |
Marriage | Q3 1953 (age 58) | Ipswich, Suffolk |
In September quarter 1953, in Ipswich, an Ethel N R Debnam married a Herbert Stenton. This is possible as Ethel was a widow following Bertram's death 13 years previously. Interestingly, in the same district and same quarter, a Thomas L Debnam married Beryl E Death. This is too much of a coincidence to be anything other than Ethel and Bertram's son who would have been 22 and of marriageable age. Perhaps it was a joint wedding? |
Family recollections recall Ethel as being called Nellie.
It is also recalled that her husband was called Albert which does not fit with either of her husbands?
As we have no time frame for this information, one possible explanation for this could be that both Bertram and Herbert was shortened to "Bert" which may have been misinterpreted as Albert by younger generations?
This is of course all congecture and requires further investigation.
