Theresa's birth registration was in September quarter 1911 in Preson Her mother name is given as ASPINALL, so mother was probably unmarried? |

The 1939 register shows the following at 2 Hawkins Street, Preston:- Theresa Aspinall b 27.8.1911 occ Weaver (single) Isabella Dwyer b 28.11.1870 occ Rover (married) plus 1 closed entry. |
Spouse | John WIGNALL ( - ) | |
Marriage | Q3 1959 (age 47-48) | Preston, Lancashire |
Theresa Aspinall is a bit of a mystery at the moment.
She was identified through the 1939 register as living in the same dwelling as Isabella Dwyer (nee Aspinall - Rid 1292) and is therefore assumed to be a relative of Isabella, possibly her daughter?
According to the 1939 register, Theresa was born in August 1911, therefore too late to appear in the 1911 census and her birth registration indicates that her mother was unmarried at the time of her birth (or her mother preferred to use her maiden name as her mother and father were no longer together?).
A search of marriage registrations shows a Theresa Aspinall marrying a John Wignall in September quarter 1959, Theresa would have been 48 at the time, so even if this is a correct marriage the possiblility of children after the marriage is unlikely? That said, a search for Wignall children with an Aspinall mother, throws us two births, both in Amounderness registration district (effectively Preston as Amounderness only existed as a seperate district between 1935 and 1974) They were "Male" Wignall in 1959 and "Male" Wignall in 1963.. The names are not shown as they are probably still living.
Interestingly, in June quarter of the year before (1958) a Catherine Aspinall married a Richard Wignall, also in Preston, so these children may well belong to this earlier marriage. However, the marriage of two Wignalls to two Aspinals with a year does seem a bit of a co-incidence and perhaps with some further investigation, we might find that the two Wignall's were brothers, or the two Aspinall's were sisters, or both?
There is a Catherine Aspinall in this tree (RiD 1310), but I have no reason at present to suspect this is the same Catherine
