On the 17th June 1944, George William Brown was granted a divorce from Lena Ethel Brown on the ground of adultery. The co-respondant was Ronald Cook-Abbott who was recorded in the press report as serving in the Pioneer Corps and was serving overseas. It is entirely possible that this divorce was arranged amicably between the parties as it was sometimes the case that one of the married couple would "provide evidence" of adultery (even if adultery had not been committed) as this was one of the few grounds on which a court would grant a divorce. |
There is an entry in 1958 National Probate Calendar where Ronald was granted probate of the estate of Henry Robert JENNER who died 2 Aug 1958.Ronald is shown as a solicitors clerk, so may have been appointed in professional capacity.
