How do I use this site?

To navigate this site, use the site links in the menu bar above or the underlined links below. You may find the following page summaries useful.

• TREE
This page contains a copy of the Cook-Abbott family tree from about 1811 to the present day. By usng the scroll bars, you can browse the tree. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no direct link from indiviuals on the tree to other parts of this site, but if you make a note of the name and reference number (RiD), you can link to more detailed informaton via the Name Index.
• NAME INDEX
Here you can search for specfic people in an alphabetical list. If you are a registered user, by clicking on a name, you will go to their record page. Some individuals may not have their own record page, but will appear on someone elses page as a spouse, so if you think you have been taken to the wrong page, check the full record before moving away.
• RECORD PAGES
Access to the Record pages is restricted to registered users only. They are not available on the main menu bar as there are so many of them. They can only be accessed by clicking a name on the Name Index page. Record Pages contain further links to the indiviual's parents, spouse(s) and children (if any). By clicking on any image in a record page, the image will open in a larger window for a better view.
• GALLERY
Access to the Gallery is restricted to registered users only. Here I have put together all of the images which appear on the Record Pages so that they can be easily browsed. If you click on the image, it will take you to the Record Page where it is from. If you want to enlarge the image in the Gallery page, you should right click the image and open in a new tab or page.
• TIME LINE
This is a bit of fun. It shows various Cook-Abbott events and places them in the context of significant national events. For example, did you know that the Cook-Abbott name started in the reign of William IV, 6 years before Queen Victoria was crowned?
• ORPHANS
This is the genealogy term for individuals who are not yet connected into the main tree. This page contains a few names which I have not been able (or had time) to link into the tree and so do not yet appear in the Name Index. Hopefully, you wll recognise one or two of them as parents, grand-parents, aunts or uncles (or perhaps you will recognise yourself!). If you do, please let me know.
• LINKS
Self-explanatory really. Not much on this page at the moment, but in time I am hoping to fill this page with links that are relevant to the Cook-Abbott family (or anything that interests me !).
• CONTACTS
Please use this page to contact me with any thoughts about this web site - good, bad or indiferent!. I am hoping for lots of background informaton on members of our family and if you have any documents or photo's you would like to share .....I would be over the moon!
